Amritaya Gangotsav- A Cultural Celebration by the Ganges

Amritaya Gangotsav was a wonderful cultural celebration with fun-filled activities and entertainment by the Oswal Group. Gangotsav was held on 15th January 2023 at Rustamji Parsee Road, opposite Cossipore Udyanbati, Kolkata.

During the Gangotsav, the residents at riverside flats in Kolkata by the Oswal Group encircled themselves by the divine vibes of the holy Ganges, offering prayers and pujas (worship) to the river. Being surrounded by the divine Ganges is believed to bring blessings and good fortune to one’s life.

Ganga Aati is a ritual to worship the Ganges. Aarti was performed rhythmically, lighting lamps and offering prayers to the river by a group of priests. The sound and light waves produced during the ceremony are believed to have a purifying effect on the environment and the people present.

Families residing at riverside flats in Kolkata gathered on this auspicious occasion to witness the ceremony, and some even participated by lighting lamps and offering flowers to the river. 

Laser Beam & Graphics Show by the Ganga

A laser show is a visual display that uses lasers to create patterns, graphics, and animations in the air to create a stunning visual spectacle.

The view was mesmerising with light and sound displays that left a lasting impression on the residents at Orchard Amritaya

Arrangement of Shops Showcasing Artistic Talent by the Ganges

Seashell Bangles Shop: The seashell bangles shop was full of a variety of shell bangles with different colours, shapes and sizes. These bangles are popular with beachgoers and those who love bohemian fashion. The shop was followed by the crowd and they loved the varieties showcased at this shop. 

Sketch Painting: There was a lot of craze around the painting area where our residents brought their family moments to life on a piece of paper. 

Pottery: The pottery shop portrayed vases, plates, bowls and figurines in a variety of styles made by artistic hands. 

Chhou Mask Making: Chhou mask making is an art form that originated in West Bengal and is now popular in many parts of South Asia. The residents were exposed to our culture’s traditions and roots.

Grass Basket Weaving: Grass basket weaving is an ancient art form of weaving dry grass into baskets, mats, and other useful items. The decorated basket finds its application in practical purposes such as storing and transporting goods.

Bringing the Flavours of Different Cultures into one place 

In Kolkata, we often get together to eat together and have lively conversations, and food is often a central part of festivals and celebrations. We love to eat, and food is definitely not left behind at the Amritaya Gangotsav, giving our residents the taste of different cultures. At this ceremony, the following dishes were presented to our lovely guests: 

Baked rosogolla, Radha Ballavi & Channa Dal:

Kolkata is known for its sweet treats, with rosogolla hitting the list with its unique flavour and texture. Radha Ballavi and Channa Dal were also included in the menu, taking the taste buds to the next level. 

Litti chokha: 

Patna is famous for litti chokha, a popular breakfast dish in Patna and can be found at most of the street stalls.

Dahi Bhalla:

Dahi Bhalla is a popular refreshing and cool dish in Allahabad, perfect for the hot and humid city climate.

Paan and tamatar chat: 

Varanasi is known for its paan and tamatar chaat, a must-have in the town. 

Kulfi: Kanpur is famous for kulfi made from various flavours and is enjoyed by both locals and tourists.
Overall, the Gangotsav was the celebration of the Ganges as a symbol of divine holiness and awakening in addition to a source of relaxation. The residents of Orchard Amritaya had a great time being dressed up in traditional attire and participated in cultural events. This Gangotsav was celebrated with great enthusiasm and fanfare creating a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere.
